The Krewe of Venus crowned its 46th King,
John Sweger Jr., keeping the 45th Queen Venus Morgan Prevatt on the throne for a
second reign.
Four pairs of dukes and duchesses
included the queen's parents, Clarence and Elaine Prevatt, as well as Joe and
Ruia Gonzalez, Steve and Becky Myers and Vic Nebbiosi and Laura Lynn Eck.
The coronation ended with a lively grand promenade that borrowed a
New Orleans jazz tradition known as a "Second Line" when people follow a
band, dancing and twirling parasols. The king's wife,
Sam Sweger, decorated umbrellas and many of the 200 Krewe members
and guests joined in the fun.
